You Can Do Hard Things
Picture this: a group of people have spent over 40 years wandering around, trying to get to this amazing place God has promised them. Only, when they get there, a giant keeps threatening to kill them. He’s a veteran soldier and he’s over nine feet tall. Everybody’s scared and nobody wants to fight.
Then this little guy steps up with just a shepherd’s staff, a few stones, and a sling and he volunteers to take on the giant. He’s got something no one else can see. God had been preparing him so he’d be ready to fight the giant. God helped David protect his father’s sheep from lions and bears, with only his staff…the same staff he was taking with him into battle with the giant, Goliath. David stepped up, and with confidence and faith in God, he ran toward Goliath, slinging a stone and killing him with a single strike to the forehead. David faced a hard thing and he won!
You’ve probably faced some hard things too. Sometimes it seems like the things in front of us are too big for us to handle, but God has been with you your whole life, preparing you for the next big thing you’d have to face. He knew what difficult situations were in front of you, and He’s already given you the tools to win. You’ve done hard things before. God helped you then and He’s going to help you this time too. With God’s help, you’ll conquer the big thing that’s in front of you, and it will make you stronger so you can conquer the next big thing in your life. God has great things in store for you, but you can’t quit, even when it’s hard.
Pray: Dear heavenly Father, thank you for seeing into my future and preparing me for what’s to come. Help me to remember that nothing I’m facing is too hard for you and that you’ve already prepared me to do anything you’ll ever ask me to do.
Do: Write down one thing that is hard for you to do, even though you know you need to do it. Make a list of the reasons you know you need to do it. Write down a step-by-step plan for how to accomplish the goal and start on step 1 TODAY!
