Trust in the Lord

Trust in the Lord

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord.”— Jeremiah 17:7

Can you imagine how different our lives would be if we fully trusted the Lord? Burdens would be lifted because we would have such confidence in God, it would dispel our fears. Instead of thinking we are just victims of circumstance, we would realize that life isn’t random and there is a reason for the things that happen.

Our lives would be transformed if we truly trusted God, but trust doesn’t come naturally to us as human beings. Fortunately, however, it is something that can be developed. Trust grows as we deepen our knowledge of the Word of God and as the power of the Holy Spirit strengthens our inner man. And trust is refined as we go through tests in life.

Most people struggle to trust God because it is difficult to put our confidence in someone we can’t see and feel. As we grow in our ability to trust God, we experience greater levels of freedom. You see, trusting the Lord gives us a peace of mind that really can’t come any other way. Nothing in the world has all the answers. Doctors don’t have all the answers for our health. The world’s economists don’t have all the answers for our finances. Politicians don’t have all the answers for the problems that plague our communities. The only way to truly have peace is by trusting in the Lord. That is why we should make it our goal in life to trust God more and more.

Beloved, I want to encourage you to be patient with yourself. But continue to do those things that will build trust in your life. Study God’s Word, surrender to Him in obedience, and see what God does. As your trust increases, you’re going to experience more internal happiness, and people are going see the power of God at work in your life.

Father God, strengthen me and help me to trust You. I know this world does not have all the answers, but You do. You hold my future in Your hands. Help me not to lean on my own understanding but to put my hope completely in You.
